Man Utd news: Ed Woodward told Jose Mourinho about sack plans amid Zinedine Zidane links

MANCHESTER UNITED chief Ed Woodward has told Jose Mourinho there are no plans to sack him despite links to Zinedine Zidane intensifying.
Manchester United boss Mourinho is under pressure amid claims that Zidane could succeed him in the Old Trafford dugout.

The Red Devils have endured a nightmare start to the new Premier League season and, despite beating Newcastle 3-2 at Old Trafford 10 days ago, face a fight to challenge for honours.

Mourinho has contributed to the negativity at Manchester United by cutting an increasingly dejected figure.
Woodward has been tipped to wield the axe should results continue to worsen.
But journalist Duncan Castles has claimed Woodward told Jose Mourinho he has no plans to sack him…yet.

He told the Transfer Window podcast: “It was reported on Saturday (October 6) there was a meeting between Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes and Woodward on Friday (October 5).

“What came across was that Manchester United did not want to sack Mourinho at this stage.

“That the noise was coming from outside not inside, that they still believed in him, that they still felt he had been successful in his first and second seasons and were not looking to sack him.

“It’s been made clear to Mourinho that results have to change, but it wasn’t a dismissal point.”
Zidane is the overwhelming favourite to take the job.

But, speaking recently, his agent claimed that he is not interested in taking over at United should Mourinho be sacked.
Alain Miglaccio said: “He chose to take a sabbatical year.

United are next in action against Chelsea on Saturday (12:30pm).
