Presec Authorities Must Be Punished For Pitch ‘Destruction’- AWCON LOC

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the upcoming 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations, wants authorities of Legon Presbyterian Senior High School to be sanctioned following the browning of portions of a training pitch for the tournament.

Authorities of the Legon Presbytarian Senior High School allowed a playing field on the school’s campus earmarked as a training centre for this year’s AWCON to be used for an annual Alumni Bonfire event.

According to Evelyn Nsiah Asare, a member of Ghana’s LOC for the tournament believes Presec school authorities can’t go unpunished.

“The field is for the state and government has pumped so much money to put the field in shape for the tournament. We told them of our plans to host the tournament so if they allowed their Old Students to use and damage the pitch, what are they trying to tell us?

“Even if you do this event every year and you know that there is a special program that the whole continent is coming to Ghana and will use that facility, what will happen if you don’t have the Bonfire there? I believe they should be sanctioned, she added.”

Meanwhile, the Alumni of the school have engaged the services of Green Grass Technology to fix the brown patches on the turf.

The CAF Inspection Team will visit the Legon Presbyterian Senior High School pitch later today to ascertain the nation’s readiness for the hosting of the AWCON, slated for November 17-December 1, 2018.
