Godfred dame is a small boy; He should stop spewing lies about me – Woyome fumes

Embattled businessman. Alfred Agbesi Woyome, has descended heavily on the Deputy Attorney General, Mr Godfred Dame describing him as a small boy.

He is claiming that Mr Dame is peddling lies about him and using the media to engage in propaganda over the refund of the GHc51 million wrongfully paid him. He was reacting to revelation by the deputy attorney general that, the state has uncovered substantial properties supposedly owned by Mr Alfred Agbesi Woyome estimated at $1.5million each that could prove vital in retrieving the GH¢51.2 million judgement debt he received from the state.

This disclosure was made by Deputy Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame moments after the Supreme Court had adjourned hearing of a case in which defunct UT Bank claimed to be the receiver of certain properties of (Woyome) the state had identified.

The court presided over by Justice A Benin, directed UT Bank to mount the witness box and give evidence but the witness was not in court. The presiding then ordered lawyers of defunct UT Bank to make available their witness next Monday, October 22. But Mr Woyome in an interview with Accra based Citi FM wondered why the state officer was ‘’spewing lies’’.

The businessman who has been asked to refund the GHc51 million back to the state said, he felt sad when he heard Godfred Dame using the media to ‘’spew lies.’’ According to him, he has never disrespected the court and has threatened to drag the deputy attorney general to court over the matter. He alleged Godfred Dame sent army officers to his house to intimidate him earlier this year.

‘’He should do his job properly…He should stop spewing lies, he should respect the court and stop spewing lies.’’ He went on to state he is not a king Kong to prevent state officials from retrieving the GHc51 million.

Mr Woyome said, ‘’somebody higher in the NPP should talk to him…they should call Odame to order…Odame you are a small boy, you are just growing up.’’ When his attention was drawn to the fact that he was personally attacking Mr Dame, he refuted insisting he [Odame] has been spewing lies about me.

In 2014, the Supreme Court unanimously ordered businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome to refund Gh?51.2million to the state.

According to the court, the contracts upon which he made and received the claim was in contravention of Article 181 (5) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which requires such contracts to be laid before and approved by Parliament. The court was ruling on a review application filed by a former Attorney General, Mr Martin Amidu.
