NaBCO: We’ve shamed the cynics – President Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has stated the coming into force of the Nation Builders Corps (NaBCO) is a clear manifestation that his government delivers on its promises.

President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, 17 October 2018 ushered into office the 100,000 graduates after going through posting processes over the past months.

Passing out the excited graduates at the Black Star Square in Accra, visibly elated President Akufo-Addo said the “cynics and pessimists” have been proven wrong “once again”.

He tasked the graduates to be “dutiful and productive in the areas you’ve been assigned and demonstrate on daily basis the confidence” reposed in them.

He added: “Be timely and productive. Live beyond reproach so that all can vouch for your integrity.”

The 100, 000 graduates have been enrolled onto seven modules of the programme and are expected to be on it for the next three years with a monthly stipend of GHC700.00.
The CEO of NaBCO Dr. Anyars Ibrahim said all processes leading to the selection of the 100,000 graduates out of the over 130,000 applications received were transparent, adding the NaBCO secretariat had to device means of ensuring that all documents and other relevant information provided by applicants were authentic.

NaBCO was launched by Akufo-Addo as part of government’s initiative to provide jobs for the country’s unemployed graduates. The seven modules under NABCO is meant to help address the challenges facing the nation’s most pressing sectors while providing jobs to graduates who are unable to find jobs partly due to a ban on public sector employment by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

They have been put on Civic Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Educate Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, Digitize Ghana, Heal Ghana and Feed Ghana modules of the programme.

The selected 100,000 recruits who graduated today after several weeks of rigorous training and capacity building in their various chosen modules are expected to exit the programme after three years.
