Normalisation C’ttee Member ‘Fights’ Journalist Over Lateness

There was drama at a news conference organized by the Normalization Committee of the Ghana Football Association after a member of the committee engaged a journalist in a heated verbal tirade.

A freelance journalist Ekow Asmah queried why the  journalists were asked to clap for Lawyer Duah Adonteng – a member of the committee – when he arrived late, more than an hour after the program began.

Asmah demanded an apology from the committee after most of them including, Mr. Adonteng arrived late for the meeting.

This provoked Mr. Adonteng who hurled insults at the journalist describing his claims as stupid and useless.

Asmah, a veteran journalist, responded by telling Mr. Adonteng that he was unfit to be a member of the committee.

The committee was meeting journalists to reveal plans and the way forward for football in the country.

FIFA in September this year appointed businessman Dr Kofi Amoah as the Chairman of a four-member Normalization Committee that will run Ghana football and organise the election of new executives of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Dr Amoah-led committee will have former Airtel Ghana CEO, Lucy Quist, Lawyer Dua Adonten (Former Kotoko Board member) and Naa Odofoley Nortey (a Board member of the Attorney General’s Department – Legal Aid Scheme) as members.
