Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri gives Man Utd verdict: 'I'm really disappointed with this'

MAURIZIO SARRI has declared he was happy with his side’s performance against Manchester United, after Ross Barkley’s last-gasp equaliser saved Chelsea from their first defeat of the season, but was disappointed with the final half an hour from his side.
Chelsea topped the table after the draw against United, and are one of just three teams still unbeaten after nine games.

Manchester City went back to the summit after their 5-0 win over Burnley.

Antonio Rudiger broke the deadlock after half an hour, evading Paul Pogba to fire a bullet header past David De Gea.

However, United fired back in the second half as Anthony Martial bagged a quick fire double, appearing to steal the points.
It appeared that Chelsea were facing their first defeat of Sarri’s reign, before Ross Barkley popped up inside the area to score an equaliser.

Post-match, Sarri explained that he was pleased with his side’s performance, though he hinted that he felt his side deserved to get three points rather than one.

“At this period of the season, one point more or one point less is the same, I want to play every match for three points,” he said.

“I am very happy with the performance of the team for 60 minutes, for 60 minutes we played our football.
“After the goal to make it 1-1 we didn’t play our football, only the long ball. With this kind of football, United are better than us.

“I am really disappointed with the last 30 minutes. The goal in the last minute is OK for the confidence of the players.

“Now I’ve seen the match on the bench, now I want to study the second part of the match.”

The Italian claimed that he was unhappy with the way Chelsea were forced to play in the last half hour of the match.
“I have spoken about my team, of course, we played our football very well for 60 minutes,” he said.

“At 1-1 we stopped with our football and played other football.

“I don’t want the long ball and to go to the second ball. I want to play with short passes.”

One of Sarri’s assistants, Marco Ianni, caused a post-match brawl to break out after he celebrated in front of United boss Jose Mourinho.
The Chelsea manager explained that he will deal wth Ianni.

“I want to speak to him again, but I have dealt with the situation immediately,” he said.

“I have to speak to him again so I can be sure he understands it was a big mistake.”
