You are our only hope – Youth in Afforestation beg Akufo Addo

Aggrieved beneficiaries of the Youth in Afforestation Programme are asking President Akufo Addo to intervene and cause the release of their unpaid allowance.

The beneficiaries have been agitating for the Forestry Commission to settle their allowances.

They embarked on a two weeks strike a fortnight ago but called it off after the Forestry Commission Boss, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie promised that their allowances will be paid.

Speaking to Starr News, the Coordinator for the aggrieved beneficiaries, Shaban Abdul Kadiri said the promises have not been fulfilled leaving them with no option than to seek the attention of the President.

“That’s the only hope we have, the President is our only hope now. Because looking at how things are going we don’t know who to trust to be honest so he is the only hope we have now. We wish we could get in touch with him to explain the whole situation. If the President is to tell us to go and stay home one week and keep on working, honestly we’re going to shut up and work but I know the kind of President we have in this country, he’s definitely going to listen to us. We’re not much interested in demonstration but to get the money.”
