Show outcome of government’s investigation into Anas’ number 12 – NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has challenged the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to provide evidence of any serious investigations they have carried out since the release of Number 12, an investigation into corrupt practices within Ghana football by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

The party, through its national organizer, Kofi Adams, has issued a release that seeks to question the commitment of the CID to investigate the matter, especially when the President has been mentioned.

“It’s so appalling why a man who is perceived to be engaged in corrupts acts has been banned for life by FIFA while a whole president who was implicated in this expose has still not told us how far with investigations.”

“This shows how focused FIFA is. What happened to what CID began. We need answers now. It’s important that President Akufo Addo opens himself up for investigations to clear his name” he said on Accra based Okay FM monitored by Adomonline.com.

The party’s release follows FIFA’s decision to ban the former Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi from all football-related activities.

Mr. Nyantakyi who has been banned for life from all football-related activities by FIFA after the world football governing body found him guilty of bribery and corruption had mentioned Nana Akufo-Addo’s name in his dealings.

It is recalled Mr. Nyantakyi was captured on video asking an undercover journalist who had posed as a businessman to give him $8 million to bribe the president and his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He later, in a letter, apologized to the president for his indiscretion.

Mr. Adams is particularly baffled by government’s failure to make public, evidence on the issue ever since it started investigating the matter.

He noted that the NDC was not satisfied with the investigations done by the CID with regards to the mention of the president’s name by Mr. Nyantakyi.
