New deal for Lascelles
Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles has signed a new six-year deal.
The defender has extended his stay at St James’ Park until 2024.
Speaking about his new deal, Lascelles told NUFC TV: “I’m over the moon – it’s great news to be tied down to Newcastle for a long time. It’s pretty much all I ever wanted: playing in the Premier League in front of amazing fans.
“I think now as players, we just need to give the fans what they deserve. We need to put in the performances and make it even more special. Since I’ve been here, everything’s been really positive and now I need to get my head down and get this team higher up the league.”
Ramsey to leave Arsenal
Aaron Ramsey will leave Arsenal in the summer after being told he won’t be given a new contract.
Ramsey is out of contract in the summer and talks over a new deal have stopped.
The Wales ace, who was in the running for the captaincy at the start of the season, has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United.
Arsenal are hoping to sell in January but it appears a free transfer in the summer is the most likely.
Man Utd swap deal request
Manchester United have requested Juventus star Alex Sandro in any potential swap deal with Paul Pogba, according to reports.
United endured a whole summer of speculation surrounding Paul Pogba’s unstable future at the club.
With the Frenchman clashing with manager Jose Mourinho, widespread reports suggested he wanted out with Real Madrid and Juventus showing interest.
And it seems the Italian giants are still keeping tabs on the talented midfielder by exploring the possibility of a return.
According to Italian publication TuttoJuve, both clubs remain in negotiations over Pogba.
But should United consider letting their £89m man return to his former club, they are not willing to let him leave on the cheap.
The report claims United have made it clear they want defender Alex Sandro to be included in any potential deal.
Mourinho wants assurances
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reportedly has a clear thought in his mind ahead of his meeting with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
Mourinho was believed to have been left angry after Woodward recently cancelled a meeting at the last minute.
But it’s now believed the pair will finally sit down ahead of United’s clash with Bournemouth on Saturday.
And the former Chelsea boss now heads into his meeting with Woodward seeking clarity about his future and the club’s transfer business in January, according to Metro.
Man Utd transfer decision
Manchester United will only back Jose Mourinho in the January transfer window if the right deal presents itself.
Reports this week have claimed United are willing to hand Mourinho a £100m transfer war chest in January.
However, according to ESPN, United will veto Mourinho’s transfer targets if they don’t suit their criteria.
They claim Old Trafford chiefs will pull the plug on any deal which doesn’t help United long term.
Mourinho is eyeing centre-backs Milan Skriniar, Alessio Romagnoli and Nikola Milenkovic ahead of the January window.
And ESPN add that Mourinho is after the trio, who are all 23 or under, because he knows of Woodward’s demands.
Carabao Cup draw
Arsenal and Tottenham will go head-to-head in a festive north London derby in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.
The Gunners and Spurs have been paired together after their respective fourth-round wins over Blackpool and West Ham.
Chelsea’s reward for seeing off Derby is a home tie with Bournemouth.
Middlesbrough beat Crystal Palace and were handed a home game with League One Burton and a significant chance of progressing to the semi-final.
Reigning champions Manchester City play Fulham on Thursday and the winner will face either Leicester or Southampton.
That game was due to be played on Tuesday, but was postponed following the death of Foxes owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha on Saturday.
Malcom denies rumours
Malcom has dismissed claims he is seeking a move away from Barcelona in January.
Reports have been circulating that the Brazilian winger is unhappy about his lack of first-team football since joining Barcelona.
But he’s hit back saying that he will ‘continue fighting’ to succeed at the Nou Camp.
“About news that came out here in Spain, I want to clarify this: I came to Barcelona with many objectives, and those who know me know that I am a very determined person,” the 21-year-old wrote on his Instagram.
“I am very happy with the evolution in my career and I know and every day that passes my dreams and objectives are becoming a reality. My family is also adapted to the city.
“Anyway, I’m going to continue to fighting for everything I want in my career.”
Malcom wants out
Arsenal and Tottenham could reignite their interest in Barcelona winger Malcom, reports claim.
Barcelona were delighted when successfully beating Roma to the uncapped Brazilian talent, who cost £36million.
But Malcom has seen precious little action since arriving at the Nou Camp – 25 minutes in total.
And Mundo Deportivo say Malcom has asked to leave in January if the situation doesn’t change.
The report adds that the 21-year-old held talks about his lack of combative action with manager Ernesto Valverde, who told him to work harder for an opportunity.
The Premier League duo were linked with Malcom over the summer, and the Mirror suggest that they could again be interested if Barcelona sanction his departure.
Jadon Sancho latest
Manchester United are facing serious competition for Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho.
According to Sky Sports, PSG and Arsenal are ready to enter the fray for his signature and have been tracking his progress closely.
A move to Old Trafford could be controversial.
Sancho is a youth team graduate from the Manchester City academy but moved to the Bundesliga on a free transfer.
Jose Mourinho is set to receive some serious backing from Ed Woodward, with reports claiming a £100m war chest could be on the cards.
Matthijs de Ligt fee
Barcelona will have to pay a staggering amount if they want to sign Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt.
That’s according to Diario Sport via Tuttosport, who claim Ajax have slapped a £45million valuation on their sought-after centre-back.
Barcelona were heavily linked with Dutch international over the summer, as were European heavyweights PSG, Roma and Inter Milan.
Ajax kept hold of the teenage talent and are in a strong position to demand their lofty asking-price.
The 19-year-old has a contract until June 2021, and Ajax have a clause that will enable them to increase that by a further year.
Maurizio Sarri told to make ‘perfect’ signing
Maurizio Sarri has been told to sign Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson – before Manchester United do!
The Bournemouth frontman has been tipped to earn a senior England call-up and he has caught the eye of former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy.
Cundy claims Wilson would be the perfect striker for Chelsea and suit the style of football Sarri plays.
“It’s still early days but he’s starting to reach the same sort of levels even if it’s only ten games where he is now starting to score the sort of goals that will start to catch the eye,” Cundy said on talkSPORT.
“So the question is who will look to sign him in January before his stock rises to a ridiculous level?
“I’m looking at my club, Chelsea. We’ve got two No.9’s in Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud. Neither of them are holding down a regular spot.
“And I think with the way Chelsea are playing under Maurizio Sarri, Callum Wilson would be perfect for Chelsea, perfect.
“Then you think about Manchester United. Wilson is 26-years-old and is coming into the best days of his career. Could United sign him as back-up to (Romelu) Lukaku?
“I think there are a number of big clubs who should be looking at Wilson.”
Juan Mata flatter
Juan Mata has spoken of his admiration for Arsenal manager Unai Emery as reports suggest he could make a shock switch to the Gunners.
Mata is out of contract at Manchester United at the end of the season and is yet to commit his future – despite the club’s best efforts to tie him down.
The Daily Star claim Arsenal are ready to sign him on a free if Aaron Ramsey – also out of contract in the summer – leaves the Emirates.
And Mata, who worked under Emery at Valencia, admits he is a huge admirer of his fellow Spaniard.
In a new biography about the Arsenal boss, 30-year-old Mata said: “I think what’s special about Unai is the way he communicates.
“In his talks, he used to write three, four or five things on the board: those were the points he was going to bring up.
“Sometimes it was five phrases or metaphors he was going to explain. I’ve never seen that with my other managers.’
