Don’t ‘put up a candidate’ for Agyarko’s seat – Mubarak to NDC, others

Member of Parliament for Kumbungu constituency in the Northern Region, Ras Mubarak, has urged all the political parties not to ‘put up’ a candidate for the Ayawaso Wuogon vacant seat following the death of the MP for the constituency, Mr Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko.

“I do not think the NDC or any other party should put up a candidate for Hon. Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko‘s vacant seat. We should have a convention/agreement amongst ourselves that if a sitting MP dies, the party from which he was an MP should select a candidate to serve his remaining term. It saves the country and the parties resources. Democracy can be made less expensive. It all depends on us”, Mubarak wrote on his facebook page, Thursday.

Mr Kyeremanteng Agyarko, passed away at a hospital in the United States of America on Wednesday.

Born 10 December 1957 at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region, Mr Agyarko was a former Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Board (FDB) now FDA.

He had a Bachelor in Pharmacy which he obtained at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the year 1982.

He was Chairperson of the Environment, Science and Technology Committee in Parliament. He also served on the Government Assurance and Health Committees.
