Feature: Is Kuami Eugene the most outstanding artiste of the year?

Eugene Kwame  Marfo, known in showbiz circles as Kuami Eugene is incontrovertibly one of Ghana’s wonderful and amazing talents as far as the music industry is concerned.

He has risen through the ranks ever since he left the MTN Hitmaker for the mainstream to pursue his career to the apogee.

Even though he emerged 2nd runner-up in the Mtn Hitmaker season five (5), he leapfrogged and beat his fellow contenders to win the unsung category of the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, which unequivocally was a big feather in his career’s cap.

As though that were not enough, he came back to the same platform (Ghana Music Awards) a year later to pick two great awards thus, Discovery of the year and High life artiste of the year.

His popular songs including “Angela”, “Confusion”, “Wish me well” and what have you have taken over the airwaves and travelled within the shores of the country, and across the African Continent holistically.

He won the most promising Artiste during the 5th All Africa Music Awards (Afrima) which was held at the Accra International Conference Center in Accra in November 2018, this goes a long way to buttress his pivotal role played in the continent as a musician.

He arguably has been adjudged by pundits and ardent music lovers as one of the most featured artists in the year under review, this and other factors they believe should earn the “Angela” hitmaker a slot in the Artiste of the year Category during the 20th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in 2019.

The entertainment review production of Peace 104.3 FM headed by Akwasi Aboagye has adjudged the lynx entertainment label signee, Kuami Eugene, as the most outstanding Artiste in the year under review (2018) due to the aforementioned reasons and successes chalked by the young talent.

The production’s opinion was upheld and supported by entertainment writers and pundits, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo and Halifax Ansah Addo who shared in the same opinion.

“The guy has done what it takes to be outstanding”  Arnold confessed.

He (Arnold ) however was quick to add that the ‘Confusion” hitmaker lacks stagecraft which he believes if not checked, could stain the outstanding status bestowed upon him.

On the same program, popular Ghanaian showbiz personality, Ola Michaels also waded into the argument but unlike his colleagues in the studio, he disputed and disagreed with the opinion. According to him, Kuami Eugene is one of the outstanding and not the most outstanding.

He instead rooted for the controversial self-acclaimed dancehall King, Shatta Wale as his most outstanding artiste in the year under review.

He, however, believes the “Wish me well” banger maker deserves the spotlight, commendations and leverage the production crew has rained on him.

Kuami Eugene who shockingly revealed he sometimes performs on five (5) platforms as an artist in his hay days is currently in Kumasi for his ‘Rockstar   Concert” earmarked to outdoor his maiden Album christened “Rockstar”.
