Government to spend nearly GHC80 billion in 2019

Parliament has given government the approval to spend nearly GHC100m to subsidize electricity bills for customers.

The amount is part of almost GHC80 billion approved for government by Parliament to spend in 2019.

Members of Parliament sat for 13 hours and managed to pass the Appropriation Bill shortly after midnight.

Almost GHC30 billion of the approved money will go into the payment of workers’ salaries and compensations.

Nearly GHC2O billion will go into payment of interests o existing loans.
