Pack out of Jubilee House if I’m elected NDC flagbearer – Alabi to Nana Addo

Pack out of Jubilee House if I’m elected NDC flagbearer – Alabi to Nana Addo

Flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Alabi strongly believes that a win for him in the party’s upcoming presidential primary will force President Akufo-Addo to vacate his position as President.

According to him, his victory will be a strong indication of the renewal of hope that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied Ghanaians.

Addressing hundreds of party supporters who gathered for the commemoration of the 31st December revolution on Monday, Prof. Alabi emphatically stated that Nana Akufo-Addo will start packing out of the official seat of government once he is elected flagbearer of the NDC.

“I am very confident that by God’s grace, delegates will give it (flagbearer) to Prof. Joshua Alabi. The very day they announce that Joshua Alabi is the flagbearer, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will start packing from the Flagstaff House. I am going to give hope to our people and the whole country.”

Contest not a fight

Meanwhile, Prof. Alabi has admitted that the upcoming congress must not be seen as an avenue to create enmity amongst the flagbearer hopefuls and supporters.

He, therefore, called for unity among all seven aspirants and other party members before, during and after the congress.

“We are going into a contest which is not a fight. Competition brings out the best and the best is to lead our party. We cannot send a weak person into the race. I will entreat all of you to be united after the contest. All loser should support the winner because the battle ahead is not a small one. It is going to be a strong battle and we will be able to win if we are united.”

Mahama, other aspirants, address 31st December Revolution gathering

Former President John Mahama joined six other presidential aspirants of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to address party folks at the 31st December revolution commemoration event

The event, which took place at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region, was held under the theme: “Deepening the core principles of good leadership for political governance.”

The other aspirants were Alban Bagbin, Ekwow Spio Garbrah, Joshua Alabi, Sylvester Mensah, Goosie Tanoh and Nurudeen Iddrisu.

About the 31st December Revolution

On 31st December 1981, former President Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings led a group of soldiers to topple the late President Hilla Liman’s government to form the Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC).

The PNDC was an amalgamation of the Armed Forces Revolution Council (AFRC) which on 4th June 1978, deposed the Supreme Military Council (SMC) II, and handed over power to Liman’s government after elections.

The PNDC steered the affairs of the country until 1992 when the country was returned to constitutional democracy.
