Patience Nyarko to sue NPP for using her Song ‘Obi Nyanime’ without permission

Gospel singer Patience Nyarko has issued a threat to sue the ruling NPP government for allegedly using her songs at their campaign rallies without seeking permission from her.

When it comes to the issue of copyright in Ghana, using music without permission or paying royalties on it is deemed illegal.

And it seems the ruling NPP party has developed a taste for the female singer’s songs and even though they did not ask for permission, they are allegedly enjoying it at their rallies.

However, the “Wafom Kwan” hitmaker has issued a warning to them to desist from such act or she would sue them.

Patience Nyarko in last year 2018 was one of the musicians in Ghana who produced hit songs with her own dubbed ‘Obi Nyanime’.

Well, it was recently rumored that the NPP uses the popular song at their rallies and even plan to use it as the official 2020 campaign song.

Speaking on a recent episode Onua 95.1 FM’s entertainment talk show Anigye Mmre, Patience Nyarko replied to the rumors.

“I mean it’s not right , its a big offence for using someone’s intellectual property without the person’s knowledge and I believe that NPP is a big party which understands all these terminologies so I’m hoping for the right thing to be done,” Patience Nyarko said.

Her management team has also made it clear that they seek a peaceable solution but if that fails to materialize they would head to courts to get what is owed.
