De-Eye Group was used to extort GHC2K from recruits – Kennedy Agyapong

New Patriotic Party (NPP) firebrand, Kennedy Agyapong is lending credence to the illegality that was being perpetrated by De Eye Group, a pro NPP militia that trained recruits at Castle Osu, MyNewsGh.com reports.

He disclosed that the leadership used the group to exploit about GH¢2,000 each from the recruits under the guise the unregistered private security agency belonged to the state.

Revealing how he got to know about this, he said “One day, I was there when one boy came to ask me for GH¢2,000 because they were paying that amount for security recruitment at the Castle. I asked him to allow me verify but it turned out that it was not as he was told. This was a security man, infact a former personal bodyguard of Akufo-Addo who was training people…so I don’t told him not to pay any money to anyone”, he disclosed in an interview granted to a local radio station monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

The Assin Central lawmaker who says he has no problem with the mode of investigations of Joy Fm’s Mannasseh Azuri Awuni, also disclosed that they is an element of truth in whatever the journalist put out there.

He lambasted authorities for claiming nothing like that existed questioning whether they never saw the former personal bodyguard of the President training the people at the Castle and what steps they took.

“I don’t have a problem with Manasseh Azuri Awuni because he did not veil himself like Anas to go undercover. He wants everyone to see that what he is talking about is the truth. There is an element of truth about some people being trained at the Osu Castle. Are u saying authorities did not see the training ongoing? What is wrong is wrong”, he lashed.
