Afenyo Markin, UEW lecturer clash over new VC

A lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, Alhassan Salifu Bawa, has described as empty threats of impeachment against the Vice Chancellor of the University Rev. Father Afful-Broni.

Accordingly to him, the threats and calls by Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency Alexander Afenyo Markin for the resignation of the Vice Chancellor are misplaced since the VC has committed no crime especially in applying the status in sacking some lecturers and officers from the finance department of the University’s administrative set up, who had engaged in acts of malfeasance.

He stressed that the fabrications against the VC are due to the fact that he has refused to do the bidding of the MP as the MP wants to take over contracts and recruitment and procurement issues at the University.

Mr. Afenyo Markins , he adds, wants the VC to bend the rules in giving contracts to his cronies in breach of procurement standards while again instigating the transfer of some staff from the University whom he thinks are a threat to his political ambition.

He stressed that the VC’s strong stance against such things including unauthorised and superfluous recruitment of Afenyo-Markin’s favourites at the University is the reason for the MPs incessant attacks on the VC Rev. Father Afful-Broni.

Meanwhile, the MP has in a statement claimed the new VC of the university has assigned people to attack him.

“Afful-Broni in his cassock and without shame viciously attacked the image of Avoke but time has exposed all the lies. As the inevitable awaits him, he is now using Bawah and a busy body independent candidate to neutralise me through character assassination. Destroying the lives of others can’t be part of any christian virtue.

“Avoke, Avea Nsoh, Bekoe,Sarpong, Dennis, Kaakyire and Ahmed Jinapor will soon see real justice. In fact many others will see their dignity being restored and it shall be like a dream. The ravening clouds shall not long be victorious”.
