JB murder trial: Court orders Legal Aid to provide lawyer to key suspect

Criminal High Court five (5) presided over by Justice George Boadi, has ordered that a letter be written to the Ghana Legal Aid Scheme by the registrar of the High Court for the scheme to as a matter of urgency, provide legal services to one of the accused person, Daniel Aseidu who has been charged by the State for the Murder of the late New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North Constituency, Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu.



Two accused persons have been committed to stand trial at the High Court for the Murder of the late New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North Constituency, Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu, in 2016.



The Court was expected to empanel a seven member jury to pave way for the trial to commence. In the absence of legal representation for the accused persons, the Court was unable to proceed with the Jury formation.

The Presiding judge subsequently ordered that the Legal Aid Scheme who provided the accused person with legal representation during his committal proceedings at the District Court be contacted to provide same for the accused persons at the trial.

The court adjourned sitting to the 15th of April 2019.
