Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo constituency has accused the government of sabotage as his constituents have been without power for three days.
The MP, Ebenezer Teye Larbi, who made the assertions said the situation was affecting economic activities in the area.
The legislator warned that if the problem isn’t fixed, it could trigger a demonstration.
He said his constituents aren’t different from residents in Accra and other parts of the country and as such did not deserve the ordeal they are going through currently.
Residents in Accra have also slept in darkness for days but the government insists it is not engaged in any load shedding, popularly known as dumsor.
The Ministry of Energy has, among other things, cited repair works at Atuabo Ghana Gas Plant, the supply of fuel as contributory factors to the recent erratic power supply to consumers.
It has assured the electricity supply will be stable in ten days as contingency measures are being put in place to resolve the situation.
Venting his spleen on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Wednesday, Hon Larbi said the power distributor, PDS, was trying his patience.
He cited how his constituents were subjected to similar inhumane treatment by then ECG last year, leading to series of demonstrations.
What is even more painful, the Lower Manya Krobo MP said, is when towns on the Akuapem Mountains are lit when he and his people “sleep in darkness”.
As an immediate measure, Hon Larbi said he would raise the issue on the floor of Parliament for the Minister in charge to be summoned.
