The family of slain undercover Journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale has denied claims they collaborated with controversial lawmaker for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong to arrest a suspect in connection with the murder describing him as a serial liar.
According to Ibrahim Kamilu Tahiru a brother of the deceased and the family spokesperson, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong neither played a part nor contributed any amount towards the incident he is bragging about daring him to name the person who received the monetary support even if it happened.
He told MyNewsGh.com in an exclusive interview that the family will later this week hold a press conference to expose the untruths about the claims made by the lawmaker in respect of the matter to let the public know what exactly transpired.
“We have not received any money from Kennedy Agyapong neither did he play any part in the arrest of the suspect currently in police custody over the incident. As I speak to you, the family is planning to hold a press conference later this week and tell the whole world the truth about the so-called collaboration with the Ahmed Suale’s family”, he revealed.
Mr Kennedy Agyapong a week ago revealed that the police were only able to make a headway on the murder of Ahmed Saule after he and Ahmed Suale’s brothers hired the services of special land guards to track down the murderers of the journalist.
According to him, they had information that some neighbours had seen the murderers and could identify them so they hired someone to go undercover with support from some special landguards.
He said after a couple of weeks, they managed to track down two of the people who were handed over to the police while one of them who is suspected to be the trigger has been remanded at BNI.
Mr Agyapong, who is obviously unhappy about the Press Conference by the CID Boss on the murder without giving him credit for the work he did to help them, said the CID is tarnishing his image.
But the family is claiming the lawmaker himself is trying to take undue advantage of the situation to claim credit for no work done.
One person has indeed been picked up and is in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for the murder of a member of Tiger Eye PI.
Police have declined giving further details of the suspect except to say he was seen around the scene of the crime in Madina several hours before the incident and went into hiding until he was arrested last week. Police tracked him down.
According to the police, they are still investigating his links to the crime and do not want to draw hasty conclusions as to whether he was indeed the person who pulled the trigger or not as claimed by Kwame Baffoe alias Abronye DC, Brong Ahafo Regional First Vice Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Two persons were reported to have been arrested in connection with the murder of undercover journalist with Tiger Eye PI, Ahmed Hussein-Suale.
