The German midfielder has committed to a new contract with Real Madrid and is aware that the club are being linked with moves for some big names
Toni Kroos has welcomed Real Madrid’s links to Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, but is eager to point out that he does not make transfer calls.
The Santiago Bernabeu is expected to be a busy place over the summer, with a number of comings and goings being mooted for the next window.
Zinedine Zidane is expected to be given a sizeable kitty with which to freshen up a squad that flopped badly in a 2018-19 campaign that delivered a third-place finish in La Liga, no silverware and three changes of manager.
Among those said to be on the Blancos’ shopping list is France international Mbappe, with the World Cup winner having hinted that his future could lie away from PSG.
Quizzed on links to the highly-rated frontman, Madrid midfielder Kroos told reporters: “I like him as a player, but that question is not for me.
“I cannot buy him. I have a good contract but it’s a question for the club!”
Kroos was speaking after committing his own future to Real by penning an extension to his contract through to 2023.
While he is staying put, it has been suggested that Zidane will seek to bolster his options in the middle of the park, potentially with the addition of Pogba.
“We can speak about many names,” said Kroos.
“I like that player as well but with me nothing changes and I will fight for my position. When I play at my level, I have no problem.”

For now, Kroos is delighted to have secured fresh terms in Madrid.
He has been with Real since 2014 and remains fully committed to their cause, saying: “I’m not going to say what Zidane has told me, but I think if there were doubts about my future we would not be here today.
“Today is a very happy day for me. I have had many successes here, I have already won 12 titles, but I am sure that we will achieve many successes in the next four years. It’s a very special day for me.
“For me, renewing at this time is special, a good sign from the club. The club and I have a very special relationship.
“I came in 2014 and from the first day I have had a lot of confidence from the club and I think I’ve helped the team to win many titles, to be very successful.”
Kroos’ intention now is to see out his playing days in the Spanish capital, adding: “If I agree a renewal at the age of 29, the idea is practically to end here. I’ll decide at the end, but my idea is for this to be my last club.”
He said when asked if he had ever considered leaving, with links to Manchester rivals United and City having surfaced in the past: “No, my plan has always been that I’m not leaving.
“I want to be happier and win. I had to stay.”
