Kwabena Adjei was not corrupt – Mike Oquaye

Speaker of Parliament Prof. Mike Oquaye has eulogized the late former National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress Dr. Kwabena Adjei, saying he was not a corrupt politician.

According to him, people in public life must emulate the lifestyle of the late minister and academician.

Speaking during the filing pass of remains of former majority leader, Prof. Oquaye said Dr. Adjei lived by his conviction.

“Dr Adjei was a voice and actor of moderation in our politics at one time. He was man who was principled and showed in his various actions and activities, he went by his conviction. He could be wrong but he was sincere about the steps that he took.

“He was honest, he was not corrupt. I follow Ghanaian politics and I’m saying this in public, he was not corrupt. And it’s a quality we need for men and women in public life,” he noted.

Other leaders of the house also paid glowing tribute to the memory of the late politician.

The former NDC chair died on March 12, 2019. He had been sick for some time. He was 76-year-old.

Dr. Adjei lost his chairmanship position to former National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Coordinator, Kofi Portuphy who himself was recently succeeded by Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.
