We don’t need your apology; resign – Ras Mubarak tells Ghana Beyond Aid Committee

Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak wants members of the Ghana Beyond Aid Committee to resign en-bloc over the cover page gaffe in the Ghana Beyond Aid Strategy Document.

The lawmaker moments after the Committee released a statement apologizing for the error on the cover page of the document, took to his Facebook wall and wrote:” They have apologized for Photoshop in Ghana Beyond Aid document. The committee members should be resigning instead of apologizing. Such incompetence!”

The Ghana Beyond Aid Committee has apologized for wrongly splashing Kenya’s skyline as cover page for the Ghana Beyond Aid Charter.

A statement by the Committee signed by its Secretary, Dr. Eric Yeboah said the commissioned photograph on the cover page of the “Ghana Beyond Aid Strategy Document” outdoored by the President was an “error”

“The Committee apologises unreservedly to the President and the nation for this error and takes full responsibility for it.” said the statement.

The document put together by a committee headed by the Senior Minister showcased high rise buildings over a green landscape. One of the buildings in the image has however turned out to be the headquarters of Dawit Insurance in Nairobi.

The development triggered public outrage, including Kumbungu MP, Ras Mubarak who has described the blunder as embarrassing to the nation.

“I feel so embarrassed and government minions should spare us. You see a spirited defence of this very embarrassing spectacle. They are telling Ghanaians that we shouldn’t worry about the cover of the document; we should focus on the substance. But if you were to go inside the substance you will even realize that there a bundle of contradictions.”

But the committee said it will ensure that the cover page of the charter will be replaced before it is printed on a large scale for distribution to stakeholders.
