Kidnapped T’di girls: 2nd Nigerian suspect remanded

A 29-year-old Nigerian, Mr John Oji, the second suspect in the kidnapping of three Ghanaian women in Takoradi, Western Region appeared at the Sekondi-Takoradi High Court II on Wednesday, 12 June 2019 to answer to charges of conspiracy to kidnap and kidnapping.

The first suspect, Samuel Udoetuk-Wills, also a Nigerian, named Oji as a key conspirator.

Oji was arrested in Togo last week.

Ghana’s state attorneys led by Ms Adelaide Kobire Wood, asked the presiding judge, Justice Hannah Taylor, to remand the suspect into police custody as investigation into the case continues.

The request was granted and the case was adjourned to 26 June 2019.

The kidnapped girls have not been rescued or seen since August last year.

Efforts by the security agencies to trace their whereabouts have so far been futile.
