Don’t bow to political parties – Kufuor to EC boss

Former president J.A Kufuor has commended the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Mrs. Jean Mensa for her integrity and good track record.

The former President made these remarks on Thursday July 4 during a courtesy call on him by a team of commissioners led by the Chairperson of the EC.

Other members of the team were Dr. Bossman Eric Asare, Deputy Chairman, Corporate Services, Mr Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman, Operations and Madam Adwoa Asuama Abrefa, a Commission Member and other senior officials.

This forms part of a series of visits to the Commission’s main stakeholders aimed at building trust and confidence in the Electoral process and also bring the Commission closer to the people.

The former President applauded the EC Boss for her boldness in dealing with all stakeholders since her assumption of office without losing her balance .



He recommended further training for the Electoral staff to enhance their performance and also ensure that their actions reflect her level of integrity and honesty.

Former President Kufuor urged the Chairperson to be firm and refrain from bowing down to pressure from the political parties when taking decisions in the interest of the nation.

Mrs. Mensa said the EC recognized his immense contribution to the country’s political dispensation and therefore the decision to visit him for his wise counsel.

She assured him about measures being taken to ensure value for money as well as strong administrative governance.

The delegation was received by the former President, Mr Kwadwo Mpiani, the former Chief of staff of the Kufuor-led administration and some members of staff.
