Chiefs appealed to me to contest Abura Asebu primaries – Kwakye Ofosu

A former deputy Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu says he decided to contest the Abura Asebu Kwamankese primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress after some chiefs and elders in the area called on him to do so.

He said he gave deep consideration and thoughts to the appeal by the respected chiefs and people in the area before declaring his interest in the contest, which comes off Saturday August 24.

Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Wednesday, the NDC communicator said the constituency has not had the best of representations over the years.

“Unfortunately for the people of my constituency they have not had an MP to bring to them the development they need. I believe I am that viable seed they need. My constituency seems to be missing in the National conversation and I have come up with some strategies that will make us known and well represented at all levels.

There is a gap in development in my constituency and that must be filled. In my constituency the most basic needs are not met. Many need to be uplifted out of poverty. I have had chiefs approach me, I have had elders approach me so I gave it a thought before making the decision to contest,” he said.

Another aspirant, Dr. Michael Kpessah Whyte said he believes this his time to represent the people of Shai-Osudoku in parliament.

“I have been doing a lot of party work at the constituency level. I’ve been trying to understand the needs of the people in the constituency. This is the third time I’m contesting for the seat. In the previous elections I made up my mind very very late and that affected me. I think the time have come for me to take over and ensure development in the constituency”.
