The long awaited first ever International Coconut Festival has commenced. The festival is marked with a set of activities which began on September 21, 2019, with a health work which saw the official launch of the World International Coconut Day. The ceremony was performed by the Eastern Regional Minister at Aburi.
Starting from today, September 24, to September 26, 2019, series of conferences and discussions are expected to take place at the Accra International Conference Centre. This is coupled with the exhibition of products most made from the coconut value chain.
In partnership with Sokocentre.com, and for the first time in Africa, the exhibition of products is done in what is called a Hybrid trade fair where all products being exhibited on the fair grounds is also being exhibited concurrently on an online portal. This is to allow stakeholders absent at the fair grounds to also purchase items at the same discounted rates.
In addition, the site becomes a hub which allows indecisive patrons present at the International Coconut Festival fair, easily return to order their preferred products so as to benefit from these services.
The International Coconut Festival also allows participants on the online portal to participate in various activities and gain points with which they could win or purchase various items on www.sokocentre.com without making use of money.
The fair, which is being attended by a lot of people from the international community, is expected to boost Ghana’s foreign exchange by a large percentage in the coming years.
