The elected NDC parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has been opposed fiercely by Twitter users for ‘holding the waist of a UG student’ in a picture.
He shared photos of him and some students from University of Ghana during their matriculation last Saturday on his Twitter handle.
Accompanying the pictures was the caption, ‘I interacted and took over 2000 pictures with freshers of the University of Ghana during their matriculation yesterday. Even though the time was limited I thank you all for showing up. Thanks to @NdcTein for putting all this together. #idey4u’.
But one of the pictures showing the politician standing very close to a young lady with his right hand on her waist caught the eyes of Twitter users who feel the pose is inappropriate.
One user commented on the image stating that Dumelo’s action was ‘gross and predatory’ whilst another asked him to remove his hands from the lady’s waist.
In February this year, Citi FM’s Nana Ama, descended on the actor turned politician for visiting female students of the University of Ghana (UG) in their hostels on Valentine’s Day.
She replied to his twitter by saying, “You mean no one on your team told you not to do this because it is predatory and gross?,” Her comment received several reactions from Twitter uses who believed that he meant no harm with his visit”.
John Dumelo is eyeing the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat which has been over the years described as NPP’s stronghold. He has constantly visited students at Legon and ‘sponsored’ some students in the bid to secure their votes come 2020.
