CSE most damaging thing to kids – Kofi Bentil

Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has expressed outrage over plans by the Ghana Education Service( GES) to introduce Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) to pupils as young as five in our schools stating it is the most damaging thing to kids

He has chastised the Minister of Education for pushing it through without broad consultations.

“Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Minister for Education, you launched this quietly. We’ve found out. Withdraw CSE now!! It is the most damaging thing you can do to our kids!,” he wrote on his Facebook wall.

The proponents of the CSE have argued that it will help them acquire accurate information on sexual rights and reproductive health that will ultimately help them avoid sexual exploitation and harassment.

But Mr Bentil is of the view that CSE has been rejected in many countries when its contents is made known.

“Comprehensive Sexuality Education is not only criminally dangerous and demonic, it has been refused everywhere people realise what it is, #sayNoToCSE” he demanded.

As part of the CSE, pupils will learn about the use of various parts of the sex organ, how to use condoms among others.

Government through the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education has tried to diffuse claims that images and snapshots of course outline circulating on social media is not what has been captured in the new curricula.

A release signed by Head of Public Affairs of GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo noted that, the state agency “will not under any circumstance implement any programme which goes contrarily to the legal, cultural norms, values and beliefs of the Ghanaian people.”
