Manchester United are targeting Mexican starlet Jose Juan Macias, who has been dubbed the next Javier Hernandez.
Manchester United are keeping tabs on rising Mexican star Jose Juan Macias, who has been dubbed as the new Javier Hernandez.
According to Marca, United are among a number of clubs eyeing Macias who is turning a lot of heads in the Liga MX.
The Red Devils have joined a bidding war with the likes of Cologne and Real Betis for the talented centre-forward.
The 20-year-old scored on his debut with Mexico and led Gerardo Martino’s side to a 2-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago.
Macias belongs to Guadalajara but plays for Leon on loan this season.
He has so far registered a total of six goals in 11 matches for the Mexican outfit during this campaign.
Macias has shone so bright that he even earned comparisons to Sevilla star Hernandez.
Chicharito spent five years at United where he scored 59 goals in 157 appearances.
The Leon ace would make for an interesting addition at Old Trafford as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shown a lot of focus on youth development.
The likes of Daniel James, Mason Greenwood, Angel Gomes and more young talent have been getting plenty of opportunities by Solskjaer.
But this youth revolution hasn’t helped United avoid a poor start to their campaign as they are 10th in the Premier League with only two wins in seven outings.
While Macias was enjoying a stunning Mexico debut the Red Devils were experiencing a dire 0-0 draw at AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.
Solskjaer’s side failed to impress once more as the players couldn’t register a single shot on target.
That drab result means United are still lacking a win in 10 consecutive away matches.
