Free SHS: I’ll father more children – 75-year-old Chief

A septuagenarian Chief says he is tempted to father more children to enable them “enjoy” governments’ Free Senior High School policy which he describes as apt.

The 75-year-old Chief of Akyem Manso in the Eastern Region, Obrempong Sintim Poku II while commending President Akufo Addo for the policy intervention which he believes would provide the needed human capital for accelerated development of the country, hastened to disclose that, he is tempted to resume fathering more children to also benefit from the Policy.

“President Nana Addo has cheated we the aged by introducing Free SHS at a time we have finished fathering children. So we are tempted to resume fathering more children to also enjoy the Policy. I have leased big land for Educational Projects, our children must also enjoy the Free SHS. We thank the President and his government”.

The retired Diplomat spurred Parents in his community to take advantage of the Free SHS Policy to educate their children to help alleviate poverty in the area.



The Chief said this when the Asene Manso Akroso District Assembly commissioned a Six Units Classroom Block for Akyem Manso Roman Catholic Basic School and 10 Seated Water Closets Toilet Facility with Mechanized borehole.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfuor who joined the local Assembly to commission the Projects said: “Education is one of the topmost Priority of the NPP Government, to make education a hub in the Country and also make it accessible to the needy and less Privileged”.

He said “for us to make sure Every Ghanaian gets at least High school education the NPP has made Education in Ghana free and accessible from the Basic to the High Schools,”

The Minister said currently 1.3million Students are benefiting from the Policy in 700 Senior High schools Across the Country.

The Member of Parliament for Asene Manso Akroso, George Kwame Aboagye explained that some 36 brilliant but needy Tertiary Students in the constituency are benefiting from the Education Fund he has instituted.

On his part, the District Chief Executive Alex Inkoom said the Assembly has initiated many projects to transform the deprived communities in the area.
