Free SHS saved me from fishing – 12-year-old student

A 12-year-old General Science student of the Akatsi Senior High Technical School in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region has paid glowing tribute to the Free Senior High School policy, saying, but for the policy, he might have been fishing on the Volta lake.

Master Gadausu Emmanuel who was assisted by Kpodo Bertha, an Agric Science student of the same school added that he might have as well ended up on the street or probably a truck pusher at the market, but for the kindness of free SHS.

His words struck the nerves of the thousands of residents at the durbar of the 30th Anniversary celebration of the Akatsi South District.

He noted that Free SHS has done to him and his family better.



Thanking the President who was in attendance with a high powered delegation, he said, “my mother can now save more resources for other things”.

He, therefore, urged all Ghanaian children to embrace and enjoy the policy by studying hard to justify the huge investment being made.

The President who was humbled by the story thanked the young man for his kind words and prayed that Ghanaians will continue to support him and his government to do more to improve the lives of everyone.

The President is on a two-day tour of the Volta Region.

He began the tour on Monday, November 4, 2019 and will end it today, Tuesday November 5, 2019.

He is in the company of the Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu, Roads and Highways Minister, Kwesi Amoako Attah, National Security Minister, Kan-Dapaah, and Local Government Minister, Hajia Alima Mahama.

The rest are the Chieftaincy Minister, Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa and his Deputy, Rev. Johnson Avuletey, the Regional NPP Chairman, Makafui Woanya among others.
