Ghanaians yet to see no-nonsense leadership from Akufo-Addo – Serwaa Amihere

Television personality, Serwaa Amihere has indicated that the president’s fight against corruption in his three years in office has been nothing but a figment of the imagination.

According to the GHOne TV news anchor, the promises President Nana Akufo-Addo made during his campaign period, particularly in relation to fighting corruption, to an extent gained him the striking victory in the 2016 elections.

While presenting her candid assessment of the Akufo-Addo-led administration, she noted that upon his assumption of office those promises have become nothing more than a charade.

She wrote, “for a president who swept to power on the back of anti-corruption, it has been disappointing watching the canker deepen with constant outbreak of scandals. He hasn’t provided the no-nonsense, all action leader against corruption that we were promised.”

“I honestly cannot recollect one instance where any corruption case was seriously tackled with the culprit…So corruption for me has been a major downside of this government.”

She made this known in a series of tweets which she captioned, “My assessment of Akufo-Addo’s government so far.”

Amongst other issues raised in her assessment were some promises President Akufo-Addo made during the build-up to the elections but has failed to fulfil them as president. She was, however, quick to add some achievements of the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government which has been impactful in lives of Ghanaians.

“Of course Free SHS has come with some challenges like overcrowding in school which has led to the double-track system that many Ghanaians do not approve of…There is Planting for Foods and Jobs which has boosted Agriculture in the country…Some stability has been brought to our macroeconomic indeces and they are all pointing in the right direction…,” she wrote.

As per usual, reactions flooded in – while others questioned why the TV personality failed to appropriately assess her piece, others followed her step and provided their opinions on the state of affairs.
