I’m sorry, forgive me – Pitch invader begs

The 25-year-old man who was apprehended by the police for invading the pitch during Ghana’s AFCON qualifier against South Africa Awal Sulemana has asked Ghanaians to forgive him for his actions.

According to him, he did not have  any ulterior motive for his actions but .

He said he only wanted an opportunity to take a picture with Athletico Madrid Star Thomas Partey.



Speaking on Nkawkaw-based Agoo fm Sports, Awal Sulemana revealed he became terrified when he noticed he was being chased by the police on the pitch.

He told host Dennis Owoahene Acheampong that he could not identify Partey who was his target the moment he stepped on the pitch.

“I became afraid and could not identify Thomas Partey at that moment. Actually I have regretted my action taken following the issue surrounding it because I didn’t know it was unlawful so I want to use this platform to apologise to Ghanaians, the players, GFA president and also thank everyone for the support.’’
