Miss Ghana 2019 finally lands in UK after ticket swerve

Winner of Miss Ghana 2019 Rebecca Nana Adwoa Kwabi has touched down at London for the Miss World contest and is expected to make Ghana proud as she represents the country in the world’s most prestigious annual beauty pageant.

Ms Kwabi left the shores of the country on Wednesday evening after her Tuesday journey to the United Kingdom foiled.

The beauty queen was said to have been shocked to the marrow at the Kotoka International Airport, Tuesday, after organisers of Miss Ghana served her with news that her ticket to the UK was not ready, contrary to an earlier communication that she was flying that night for Miss World.

Sources told Ghanaweb that the beauty queen had made the necessary preparations and headed to the airport, only to be greeted with the bizarre news.

“The Miss Ghana Foundation gave the queen signal that her flight was yesterday. After getting to the airport ready for check-in, organisers then came to tell her that her ticket was not ready.

“Miss World organisers will hold a press conference today [Wednesday] to launch the event and introduce various delegates from various countries but as it stands, Miss Ghana 2019 is still in Ghana, thanks to Exclusive Events,” a source said.

Inna Mariam Patty, Chief Executive Officer of Exclusive Events, organisers of Miss Ghana, declined commenting on the issue when Ghanaweb contacted her as she angrily hanged up.

Moments after the story went viral, some industry stakeholders wondered what might have caused the poor arrangement while others chronicled controversies which have engulfed Miss Ghana over the years.

Ms Kwabi, who according to reports had a somber expression on her face on Tuesday, can now afford to smile as she has finally jetted off to the UK for the competition.
