Diminutive comic actor Yaw Dabo has shared a story of how he was treated while in a train abroad due to his stature.
The Kumasi-based actor who appeared on UTV’s United Showbiz with his ‘colleagues in size’ – Don Little, Kompany, Amankwaa Trump and Joe Shortingo – said a white man once mistook him for a kid and ordered him around.
“The man walked to me and said, ‘Stand up, stand up. Go and sit here’,” he said amidst laughter from the host, Nana Ama Mcbrown and the other actors.
“I looked at him with a straight face. Then he said ‘oh baby boy, go and sit here.’ I didn’t utter a word.”
The actor again recalled how he was treated like a child during one of his travels by air.
He said: “I was coming from abroad with an Emirate aircraft. As a ritual, they serve the children before the adults. All I saw was being presented with a bag for kids. They brought me food meant for kids as well. So I prompted Papa Kumasi [another actor] that is it that they didn’t check my passport?”
Born Samuel Nana Yaw Dabo, the actor, rumored to be between 26 and 29 years old, in 2018 disclosed that he has never regretted being born a midget.
In an interview with Delay, he disclosed that at age fifteen (15), he admitted being a midget and never bothered to find out or asked his mom why his stature is so different from his siblings.
