Man Utd hopeful of sealing Jadon Sancho and Declan Rice transfers in January window

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like to sign Borussia Dortmund and West Ham stars Jadon Sancho and Declan Rice when the transfer window reopens in January.
Manchester United are hopeful of bringing in Jadon Sancho and Declan Rice when the transfer window reopens in January, reports say. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admires the duo and, with his side struggling, a blockbuster double deal could happen.
Solskjaer’s job at Manchester United is safe for now, with Ed Woodward reluctant to sack the Norwegian despite his well-publicised admiration for Mauricio Pochettino.

And the Red Devils are set to attack the January transfer window as they aim to turn their woeful season around.

With just four wins from 14 Premier League matches, Manchester United are stuck in a rut. They currently sit six points above the relegation zone and eight behind Chelsea in the race for the Premier League top four.

And Goal say they’re hopeful of bringing in Sancho and Rice when the transfer window reopens in January.

A move for Erling Haaland has been mooted but that’s likelier to happen at the end of the season.
Sancho and Rice may, however, make the move to Old Trafford this winter.

Borussia Dortmund forward Sancho has fallen out with the Bundesliga giants this season and manager Licien Favre in particular.

The England international was devastated when he was hooked in the battering at the hands of Bayern Munich earlier in the season.

And Sancho was crushed to have been benched for the 3-1 Champions League final defeat to Barcelona earlier in the week.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG would also like to sign the 19-year-old, with Manchester City and Liverpool also keeping tabs.
But United could be his next destination instead with Solskjaer eager to secure the services of the England winger.

Rice, meanwhile, has been part of a struggling West Ham team this season.

The Red Devils are still yet to replace Michael Carrick, whose composure in the middle of the park has been missed since his retirement in 2018.

And United are hopeful of signing him too, even if West Ham are likely to demand a huge fee for their midfield lieutenant.

Meanwhile, Red Devils chief Woodward has vowed to help Solskjaer in the transfer market – but admitted deals can be difficult to strike.
“It’s a multi-year squad evolution analysis,” Woodward said in an interview with United We Stand.

“It’s hard enough to get three players done in a transfer window.

“To get six or seven done is extremely difficult if you are getting proper talent.

“If you choose to churn every player because they are not good enough and you’re not extending contracts, you are putting yourself at risk of execution.

“Sometimes you have to take a broader view.”
