How Legon Cities fc tamed by Kumasi Asante Kotoko after spending millions on promotions

Night football returned in the Ghana Premier League after it was banned due to 9th May disaster, 2001. in a game between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts Of Oak.

The home side looked very determined to increase their tally but the defensive setup of Kotoko which had their Captain Felix Annan in post kept Legon Cities at bay.

A combination of flicks and turns from Songne Yacouba to Augustine Okrah gave Kotoko the equalizer in the 33rd min where Augustine Okrah lobbed the ball over rushing Fatawu Dauda who was in post for Legon Cities Fc.

Ghanaian dance hall artist Shata Wale(Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr) trilled the fans with an astounding performance during the first half break.

The second half began with no changes from both sides but Kotoko controlled and dictated the pace of the game until their effort was rewarded in the 51stmin where Emmanuel Gyamfi made it two for the Porcupine warriors 9mins later Emmanuel Gyamfi got onto the scoresheet again after Songne Yacouba had worked tirelessly on the right flank to set him up. Fatawu Dauda in post was completing beaten.

Two goal hero Emmanuel Gyamfi made way for young prodigy Mathew Anim Cudjoe in the 84min. His indelible impact was immediately felt after a brilliant exchanges with Augustine Okrah found Imoro Ibrahim who was flagged offside.
