Electoral violence will never be tolerated in 2020 – Ahafo Regional Minister Cautions

The unflagging hardworking member of Parliament for Asunafo North Constituency who doubles as the first ever Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Evans Opoku Bobie, who doesn’t joke with customs and traditions because of his high level of respect for Traditional leaders and our cherished rich culture.

The minister and some relevant personalities within the Ahafo Region visited Ayomso Traditional Area to support one of their powerful Festival dubbed Akwasidaekese.

Traditionally, every fortnight in a month within the Asante Traditional society is termed as ‘bad days’.

The two idiosyncratic days within the forty days are Sunday and Wednesday.

The Sunday is being observed as Akwasidae while the Wednesday is known as Awukudae.

The Chief of Ayomso,Oyeman Appiah Kubi II and his courtiers observed such a memorable great day of Akwasidaekese Festival,because, it was the last Saturday of the year.
Nananom (chiefs) entered one of the powerful rooms at the palace and prayed fervently to the Lord Almighty and the ancestors to continue to protect our lands.

It was a colorful day to feed and pour libation for the ancestors to keep on protecting us traditionally.



After that rites, the colorful Festival commenced smoothly. Hon. Evans Opoku Bobie was so touched by the rich culture of Ayomso Traditional Area.
He commended Nananom to keep on upholding such powerful culture.

He then charged them to continue to play their role in nation building to support what the government is doing to improve the lives of the people.

He assured them of his commitment and intention to improve on quality healthcare.

He mentioned some of his projects at the area including health facility for the people of Ayomso and its environs.

The minister and the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council donated a colossal amount of money in support of the social centre by the Traditional Area.

He emphasised on a point that, election 2020 ought to be peaceful than any other elections we have ever held in this Country.

Therefore, the youth are advised not to allow themselves to be influence and used by some selfish barbaric politicians to cause mayhem before, during and after the 2020 December elections.

He stressed that, as the chairman of the Ahafo Regional Security Council, whoever attempts to cause violence will be arrested and prosecuted irrespective of political color. The audience were so rapturous and commended Hon. Bobie for such piece of advice and his firm point.

The minister stated emphatically that, the president of the Republic of Ghana, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is very committed in ensuring total progress and development. This vision of the president can only be done in a peaceful environment.


He used the opportunity and advised all chiefs to desist from unfruitful litigation which retards growth and development.

Hon. Bobie urged each and everyone to contribute their quota to make Ahafo Region one of the best in the country. The tens of thousands including courtiers at the Akwasidaekese Festival hailed him for his humility and enthusiasm to work.
