I endorsed Medikal and my sister’s relationship though I knew he liked women – Wanlov

Musician Wanlov the Kubolor has disclosed that he knew from the onset the relationship between Medikal and his sister Deborah Vanessa (Sister Derby) had a wobbly wheel but endorsed it because he did not want to come across as an ‘enemy of progress’.

The FOKN Bois member speaking on 3FM’s ShowBuzz noted that he could tell from a distance that “Medikal was a guy who likes women” but refused to caution his sister, hoping that she would realize the danger ahead and jump accordingly.

“From his lyrics… He was talking about all different kinds of women and he was not saying those things for shows. Somehow, as a musician, if you’re really real to your craft, most of the things you say are things that you’ve done or want to do. So if she was looking at those signs, she would not be as hurt or surprised as she was,” said Wanlov who had earlier indicated that he is “not hundred per cent sorry for Deborah because everybody has to learn and grow.”

Astounded by Wanlov’s remarks, MzGee, host of the show asked why “a big brother” would publicly endorse the relationship of his sister having noticed a red flag.

“Yeah, as I’m saying, I was hoping she will [know] on her own,” Wanlov replied. “I haven’t seen him do any kind of move that I never liked before. But from the lyrics of his songs, you have to realize that this person wants a certain kind of lifestyle.

“People who are in love would even lie to themselves that the truth is something else just to convince themselves to keep going. They’d probably start looking at you like ‘oh you don’t like my relationship…’ so you just hope that they realize on their own,” he added.

In June 2017, Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu as the musician is known in real life, backed Medikal as the right man for his sister, arguing that the duo are very much in love with each other. This was barely a year after Sister Derby confirmed she was indeed dating Medikal despite the ten-year age gap between them.

“Deborah is very young at heart at the same time focused and driven the same with Medikal; focused and very talented, they are in love with each other. Myself, I’m in love with Medikal so if any problem comes and Deborah doesn’t want Medikal, and Medikal doesn’t want Deborah, I am going for Medikal. I have seen them a lot together and you can’t tell that they have years between them. We let these numbers control us,” Kubolor was quoted to have said on GH One TV.

In November 2018 however, Medikal confirmed his love journey with Sister Derby had come to an end after a two-year ride, while announcing his new found love, Fella Makafui.

“Everything you hear about me, Sister Debbie, Fella Makafui is true. Sister Debbie and I are no more together, although I do not want to go into details,” he told Graphic Showbiz.

“I would just say it is way deeper than what people think; a lot has gone on. The breakup did not happen today, it happened some time ago, and it is just unfortunate that people are now getting to know it. The truth of the matter is that Fella Makafui and I have been friends for a long time, long before Deborah and I started dating. And yes, I am with Fella Makafui now.”

Since then, Medikal and Fella Makafui have been flaunting each other on social media, performing erotic dance moves at events and communicating to the world how much they truly love themselves.
