Raphael Dwamena ‘contemplates’ heart surgery to get career back on track

Ghana striker Raphael Dwamena is looking at the possibility of playing football again by undergoing heart surgery, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively report.

Dwamena has been ruled out indefinitely after he was diagnosed with a heart condition last year October.

Several reports claimed that the 24-year-old poacher’s footballing career could be over after he was told by one of the most prestigious cardiologists in Spain that if he continues playing he is at serious risk of suffering a cardiovascular accident.

However, fresh report reaching GHANAsoccernet.com indicate that the Ghana international is considering the possibility of returning to the green turf by going under the knife on his pulmonary veins.

This type of procedure involves the surgical isolation of the pulmonary veins from the left atrium in order to reduce the hot spots present at the origin of the pulmonary veins.

Dwamena joined Real Zaragoza on loan until the end of the season from UD Levante during the summer, but his contract with the Segunda Division side was rescinded due to his heart problem.

The former Red Bull Salzburg striker has a €800,000 annual contract with UD Levante which will expire in 2022.

He had his move to English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion in 2017 halted after the club reported the player has a heart problem.
