Tottenham to make striker bid after Jose Mourinho transfer demand ahead of deadline

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is hoping to make one more signing before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Tottenham are readying another bid for Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose with Jose Mourinho desperate to sign a forward before Friday’s transfer deadline. Spurs have been tipped to sign a new frontman following Harry Kane’s injury.

The England international is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury.

Tottenham have identified Jose as a top target as Mourinho eyes attacking reinforcements.

Spurs have already had a £10m bid rejected by the Spanish club.

And according to The Independent, Tottenham will table another bid for Jose before Friday night’s deadline.

The 28-year-old is keen to head to north London and play under Mourinho at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Independent add that Sociedad demanded £21m for the Brazilian, however, they could lower their demands due to Jose’s desire to leave.

Jose was left out of Sociedad’s squad for their 3-1 win against Osasuna in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday evening, further feeling rumours the forward is heading to north London.

Should Spurs sign Jose before Friday’s deadline, the striker would be their fourth signing of the window.

Tottenham have already completed deals for Steven Bergwijn, Gedson Fernandes and Giovani Lo Celso.

Mourinho made sure Spurs beat West Ham to Fernandes, who is on loan from Benfica for the rest of the season, while Lo Celso impressed Tottenham chiefs enough to make his temporary move permanent.

Winger Bergwijn, meanwhile, will provide cover in attacking areas for Mourinho.

The £27m signing from PSV was handed Christian Eriksen’s number 23 shirt at his unveiling on Wednesday afternoon.

Tottenham have also been tipped to move for Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud.

The 33-year-old has struggled to get game time at Stamford Bridge this season and the Blues are willing to offload the striker.

However, it’s claimed a deal for the France international is unlikely with the Blues unwilling to help out one of their Champions League rivals.

Spurs and Chelsea are battling to finish in the top four this season and secure Champions League football.

The Blues are currently fourth in the Premier League, with Tottenham trailing their London rivals by six points.

Mourinho’s men are back in action on Sunday afternoon, with Spurs hosting Manchester City (4:30pm kick off).

A win for Spurs could see the north London club leapfrog Manchester United and move up to fifth.
