Minority boycotts Akufo-Addo’s State of the Nation Address

The Minority in Parliament has boycotted President Akufo-Addo’s fourth State of the Nation Address in Parliament.

President Akufo-Addo is in Parliament to deliver his 4th State of the Nation Address as he heads into another election in December.

Today’s address marks the last of his four-year mandate as it is yet to be determined by the electorate if the mandate will be renewed.

Ahead of the address, the failure of the fight against illegal mining has been a major talking point between the two major political parties with the opposition NDC accusing the President’s party of benefitting from the failed fight.

The President is, however, likely to trumpet again the success chalked with the Free SHS and stability chalked in the management of the economy.

But his address has gotten off to a rough start as the minority led by its leadership staged a walkout even before the start of the address amid chants of ‘help us resist oppressors rule’.
