NPP primaries: Akufo-Addo to file nomination today after SONA address

President Akufo-Addo will today file his nomination form to contest the 2020 elections as Presidential candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party.

So far, no other member of the NPP has picked forms to contest the president for the ticket.

The President, despite being a sole candidate, will still have to be acclaimed by members of the NPP at national delegates conference in order for his candidature to be valid.

The Congress will be held on April 25.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Formena in the Ashanti region Andrews Amoako Asiamah has announced his decision to back out of the upcoming primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a letter announcing his decision, the legal practitioner said: “After a broader consultation with some Chiefs and other vibrant politicians who I’ve taken as my political advisers, I’ve decided with my team to withdraw from the parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party”.
