‘Evil-minded’ Domelevo serving Mahama’s interest – Ken Agyapong

‘Evil-minded’ Domelevo serving Mahama’s interest – Ken Agyapong

Outspoken Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has launched a thinly veiled attack on the Auditor-General, Daniel Yaw Domelevo, in a speech calling on Ghanaians to treat his work with absolute contempt.

Reacting to the recent audit report that exposed prominent government officials of unduly benefiting from GETFund scholarship usually reserved for needy, but brilliant students – the MP insisted that findings of the A-G’s report were borne out of mischief and sheer hatred.

Ken Agyapong, who was highly incensed by public discussions on the report, accused the A-G of leaking the report to incite public anger against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ahead of the 2020 general elections.

“Daniel Domelevo is a man with an evil mind. This is a conspiracy to tarnish the image of those involved. He is doing this to serve the political interest of the one who appointed him. He is working for the NDC and John Dramani Mahama. He is evil!”, the Assin Central MP furiously stated on his television station, Net 2.

“If you have an evil mind like the Auditor General, even if you are doing your rightful duty, your work turns out to be very inferior,” he added.

Ken Agyapong insisted that if the A-G had wanted to be professional in his work, the report would not have been leaked to the media, even before the beneficiaries respond to the queries raised in the report.

Against that backdrop, the business magnate and NPP moneybag, questioned the professional credentials of the A-G, asking “which institution trained Domelevo as an auditor?”

The MP could not comprehend why the names of beneficiaries of the erstwhile Mahama administration was not captured in the report.

“The A-G deliberately omitted the names of NDC functionaries who also benefited for the scholarship and decided to publish only names of this government.

“He did this to please the NDC for the NPP to look bad in the court of public opinion. This is pure evil and he must be stopped,” Kennedy Agyapong stressed.

“Was your mother the president in 2014, that you couldn’t determine the NDC GETFund beneficiaries in 2010?” he quizzed.

In a performance audit report from the Auditor-General, Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, the Procurement Minister; Sarah Adwoa Safo and the Executive Secretary of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, Prince Hamidu Armah and a host of other were listed as scholarship beneficiaries of the scheme.

The report has since attracted widespread criticism from a section of the public, accusing the beneficiaries of ripping off the state.
