We’ll vote you out for attacking Wontumi – Ashanti NPP to KT Hammond

Members of the Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have vowed to ensure the electoral defeat of the Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Kwabena Tahir Hammond, in the governing New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries.

Mr K.T Hammond, in a recent interview, lashed out at the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi) for supporting an aspiring parliamentary candidate against him.

Mr Hammond told Accra100.5FM’s parliamentary candidate Richard Appiah Sarpong that: “Antwi Boasiako does nothing good for the party”, adding: “When I, K.T. Hammond, was part of the founding fathers of the NPP, where was he?”

“I have been moving with President Akufo-Addo since 1996. Even when he wasn’t the President, I called him Mr President and, so, Wontumi should not think he is a ‘darling boy’ of the president than me.

“We have seen better Ashanti regional chairmen like Antoh. Who are you to allow disqualified aspirants?” Mr Hammond asked.

He added: “The person [Sammy Binfoh Dakwa] is not disqualified and I will fight him to any level. Twenty years, the guy is not known in the constituency and this boy Antwi Boasiako said he will ensure he is allowed to contest. Who is he to say that?

“I have said that anybody who is qualified should be allowed to contest but not when the person is not qualified.”

His comment comes on the back of claims by Chairman Wontumi that he will ensure Mr Sammy Binfoh Dankwa is allowed to contest the incumbent MP who is seeking re-election.

The youth have, however, warned the MP to desist from such attacks against their Chairman amidst vows to ensure his electoral defeat.
