The Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) says it has developed an application that will help the COVID-19 response team of government to carry out effective contact tracing as well as monitoring and .evaluation of all information gathered.
The President of the institution, Surveyor Dr John Kwaku Amaglo, made the disclosure at the Jubilee House when he presented a cheque of fifty thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 50,000.00 to the Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei Opare on behalf of the institution as their contribution to the COVID-19 National Trust Fund.
Dr Amaglo indicated that the Institution of Surveyors have already made contact with the COVID-19 response team and they will be making a presentation on their application to the team on the 8th of April 2020.
The presentation he says will consider the three basic functions of the application (App) which are tracing affected people in real-time, monitoring, and evaluation of all data gathered.
“We have booked an appointment with the technical team so that tomorrow we will do a presentation and if it is adopted, I think we will be ahead of the virus” Dr Amaglo stated.
Chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, in a reaction to the institution’s disclosure welcomed the development. She noted that she is confident that they will have a fruitful engagement with the COVID-19 technical team as they give consideration to the App they have developed.
