Sandwich students from all campuses of Valley View University say they are stranded and helpless over the online learning platform.
The students according to them earlier kicked against the virtual learning considering the network challenges in most parts of Ghana but the University turned death ears to their concerns and went ahead to force them to pay fees not less than Ghc1000 across the various levels of their programs to register for the session.
A statement issued by the University to the students explained that MTN users were granted free data access to the learning platform whiles Vodafone and AirtelTigo users were given 3GB and 4GB data for accessing the learning platform. On the contrary, the assurance of free platform access to MTN users seems to be false.
There is currently heated agitations and confusion among the students’ body on their various WhatsApp platforms about their inability to connect with Lecturers on the virtual learning platform.
A class of 285 students from all campuses expected in the virtual learning platform turn to host only 44 at times 78 students making the majority unable to access to the lecture.
Students currently are peeved and calling on the University to immediately stop the mode of learning. All attempts by the SRC to earlier dialogue with the administration proved futile. Nobody can tell for now the number of students who have paid fees but denied access to learning.
Some of the frustrated students say, they can no longer keep buying 20gh data daily despite the fees paid and assurance of free platform access.
Therefore will be forced to picket at the campus against management.
