COVID-19: 122 new cases confirmed; national tally now 5,530

122 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Ghana shooting the national tally to 5,530, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service Dr. Badu Sarkodie has revealed.

According to the Ghana Health Service, the recovery rate has also risen to 674.

The death tally is still at 24, the GHS director said Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Ministry of Tourism have contracted themselves over the opening of drinking bars in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A statement by the GTA on Wednesday afternoon said drinking spots and hotels could resume operations despite the presidential directive on public gathering.



“Food chains and restaurants can operate sit-down as well as pick-up and delivery services while observing appropriate social distancing and hygiene protocols. All night clubs must remain closed,” the statement said.

But a counterstatement by the Tourism Minister said: “Drinking bars remain closed.
