Your social interventions impressive – Kome Chiefs to Akufo-Addo

The Chiefs and Queen mothers of Kome and Shime in the Anloga District of the Volta Region, have observed that the social interventions of the Akufo-Addo led administration are impressive and “have bettered the lives of Ghanaians”.

The traditional leaders made the observation when they paid a courtesy call on the President at the Jubilee House Wednesday, 20th May 2020.

Leader of the delegation Agbotadua Kumasah, in his address, noted that the Chiefs, Queens, Elders and people of Kome/Shime are eternally grateful to the Akufo-Addo government for its social interventions such as the One District, One Factory, NABCO, Planting for Food and Jobs and the Creation of new regions and districts.

“We the chiefs and people of Kome/Shime, applaud your government for such impressive social interventions,” Agbotadua Kumasah said.

“We are fully aware of your sleepless nights to turn the downward economy around. This has positively reflected in the lives of the citizenry. We are aware of you working tirelessly to combat the novel deadly Coronavirus with your teal of experts to prevent its damaging socio-economic and psychological effect on the lives of Ghanaians and we say well done” Agbotadua Kumasah added.

Request by Chiefs

Among others, the Chiefs requested of government to consider building a sugar cane processing factory in Kome/Shime. The area they indicated has over four thousand (4,000) acres of sugar cane plantation that would provide the proposed factory all the raw materials its needs.

The Kome/Shime traditional area the Chiefs said cannot boast of a single Senior High School. To this end, they pleaded with the government to build a model Senior High School for the benefit of the youth of the area.

Making reference to the President’s commitment to building standard hospitals in eighty-eight (88) Districts who do not have same, the Chiefs requested the government to consider building one in the Anloga District. They also asked the government to consider building two modern markets in Kome and Shime in order to boost trade in their district.

President Akufo-Addo in his remarks to the delegation assured them that all their concerns brought to his attention directly will be given high priority consideration. He described the visit of the delegation as timely because it demonstrates that even though the country is in a critical fight to stop the spread of the novel Coronavirus the business of the country must continue.

“The virus is there but we have to find a way to live with it. Visits like yours here tell us that yes, Ghana’s business must continue” President Akufo-Addo said.

President Akufo-Addo reminded the delegation that this year is an election year and he will be coming to them to renew his mandate for four more years in office. He beseeched them to deal favourably with his quest to have his mandate renewed.

“You know this year is an important year for me. I am going to come back to you to mark my examination papers and I am hoping that you are going to give me a favourable remark at the end of the day so that we can continue the work that we are doing” President Akufo-Addo said.
