I want to live big so I’m building a 45-bedroom house – Ken Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong says as part of his dream of living big, he is building a 45-bedroom house with about 10 living rooms as his 60th birthday present to himself.

According to the Assin Central legislator, he is building this mansion to prove to Ghanaians that “a black man can also do it.”

The huge edifice Ken Agyapong indicated is not for a hotel nor rental.

“…With the COVID-19, I think life doesn’t make sense to me anymore so I’m not rushing for anything,” he told Joy News in an interview recently.

Ken Agyapong added that even though he is still working, he is not in a hurry to complete that huge project he has started in Tema.

When asked why 45-bedrooms, the MP stated: “I do things big, that’s Ken Agyapong. When you go to my village, I have a 40-bedroom house.”

He explained that he decided to build the 45-bedroom house so that whoever becomes his trustee after his death can turn that huge edifice into a hotel “because it’s [on a] six-acre land and you can even build more.”

“I wouldn’t want to do five, six bedrooms and these kids most of whom are girls will get married and may not want it. But if it’s 45-bedrooms, you can easily turn it into a hotel because I have [a] swimming pool, tennis court. So, that’s how I think; not in terms of luxury alone but for posterity,” Ken Agyapong said.

He continued: “I’m capable of doing it, if God gives me 10, 15 years, why not, I’ll live in that property. But after that, when I’m dead and gone, even if you can’t manage it, you can turn [it] into a hotel. Add more, you can easily get 200 to 300 bedrooms because the land is big.”

“A village boy from Assin Dompim, I want to live big because life is short,” he stressed.

It is estimated that about 10 per cent of the cost of constructing a building is needed for annual maintenance. Kennedy Agyapong may well have a grandiose plan, and may be capable of the maintenance costs, but if those who inherit him cannot find the right property management model, everything may end up in ruins.
